India’s most popular telecom operators Airtel and Idea increase voice call tariffs to cover the inflated cost. In our country the call tariff is this much lower than the other country. Airtel had recently increased their 2G tariffs. Idea cellular has raised their voice call charges in some part of the country. They already stop several offers and freebies. Airtel had slashed free minutes by up to a quarter and hiked prices of some call vouchers for pre-paid customers by Rs. 5-15.


Sector analyst at Nirmal Bang Equities Pvt. Ltd Harit Shah reiterates the notion the telecom operators are passing on the burden on subscribers to meet costs. "Part of the tariff hike is driven by cost pressures and also it is sort of a pre-emptive move in order to improve financials because we have got a major auction coming up," Shah is quoted as saying. Major income for the telecom operators are from the voice calls it’s comes 85% of the industry revenue. Most properly every telecom operators in India will hike the call chargers to cover the cost.
