As the rumors surrounding the upcoming Sony Xperia Z1, codenamed Honami, continue to grow, there’s some great news for Indian fans who are eagerly waiting for the device. According to latest report, the Sony Xperia Z1 will launched in India on September 18 during a press event in New Delhi.

Considering the fact that the device is expected to be announced at a pre-IFA event on September 4, such an early release date means that India is going to be one of the first countries where the smartphone will be available. According to the report, Sony has roped in Katrina Kaif to be the brand ambassador for the Xperia Z1 once again.

As a reminder, the Xperia Z1 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080p (Full HD) Triluminos display, 2.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 3,000 mAh battery, and of course, the highly anticipated 20.7MP rear camera featuring a Sony G Lens, BIONZ image processing, and 4k  video recording capabilities. Unfortunately, due to current foreign exchange rates, the Xperia Z1 is expected to cost around Rs 50,000 (~$800), so unless things better soon, the device is going to be quite expensive.
